Can My Spouse's Affair Cause Me To Have A Midlife Crisis?

Yes. If your spouse has become involved in an affair, you will feel a loss of self-esteem, a sense of inadequacy or failure. "I didn't please my mate, I didn't meet my mate's needs." You realize your communication has broken down. You probably feel wronged and betrayed. You may feel guilty: "I could have changed this, or that, but I just didn't do it." Perhaps you feel shame or that you must carry your burden in secret. All this stress may push you over the edge into your own midlife crisis.

So if another person comes along side you, sympathizing and paying attention to you, beware that you don’t fall into an affair with them. You would then have the complications and guilt of your infidelity, along with your spouse's affair.
