Q. What causes a person to finally come out of a midlife crisis?

A. I wish I had a simple answer to this. Sometimes it is time (they finally realize they are on a self-destructive path), sometimes it is a circumstance (they realize they had it better before), and sometimes it is a spiritual experience or an emotional breakthrough. Midlife is primarily a developmental phase that takes a man or woman from one stage of maturity to another. Once they either arrive at the new level of growth, or conclude they don't want to arrive there, the crisis turns into a new lifestyle.
