Q. Why do you think spouses who have left, and got the divorce they wanted, don't want to be contacted by the left behind spouse?

A. To put is simply, they are embarrassed. They know what they did was wrong and their defense mechanisms kick into high gear. People don't like to feel like they have failed and often live in denial to avoid the feeling. Rather than accept the responsibility of their decisions they often try to hide from them. It is silly — but it is common.
