Christmas Day 2016

buttons2: hello ladies, we had brunch with our "kids", then our S went to work and D went to her BF's family as there are youngsters, H has gone to a friend's for a bit and I tried to take our fur baby for an hour walk. I did not realize how fast I've gotten at walking so what used to take me an hour was a push to get 45 minutes. H and I had roast beef for dinner; tomorrow we are having the "kids" again for a dinner

Beth: Buttons2 too bad your son had to work. But there are jobs that somebody has to work. I have worked my fair share of Christmas Day. I almost wished I had worked this year.

December 25, 2016 / Sunday

Beth: Good evening everyone.

dani3: Hello Beth, How are you doing tonight? How was your day?

Beth: Hi dani3 how are you? I am doing fairly good. This is a strange Christmas. One thing it is Sunday and Christmas Day and no church so Day has been fairly long.

Beth: Dani3 I went to my sister's for dinner. I wanted to visit a couple of people after but we are having snow and it is blowing some too. Never make plans.

dani3: That is true. We went to church last night, but did not go today and it does not feel like Sunday. We went to friend's house this evening for food. Clear here tonight but icy last night. Glad you are home safe. It is not worth the risk.

dani3: It is scary to drive in a white out!

Beth: Dani3 I am not home. I am staying at my sister's for tonight and going to have to shovel in AM to get out. Then I hope to visit a couple of people and then go home. I wish I was home in my cozy appt tonight. I must be getting old. I do not want to go places like I used to.

Beth: Dani3 it is scary to drive in white out. I have done it before but now I am older I just do.

Beth: dani3 not want to drive in bad weather anymore.

Beth: Dani3 is any of your children living near you?

dani3: My daughter and her husband and grandbaby live about 1/2 hour away but they are visiting his parents in FL this Christmas. I am glad they can be there. His dad is not well and I know it is hard for them to be far away. Our other daughter lives about 5 hours away and she is also with her h's family.

dani3: We had a really Thanksgiving together and then every other year, we have Christmas together. It is only fair to share!

dani3: Were you able to be with either of your kiddos this Christmas? I know it is hard when they are so far away.

Beth: Dani5 life changes so much doesn't it? Our children grow up, marry and move away. Then they have 2 sets of parents to visit. I never had that. Only my parents as my in laws passed at young age.

Beth: Dani3 I agree it is only fair to share.

Beth: Dani3 no my children live on the other end of Canada. About 3000 miles or so. I have not been with my son in over 12 years and with my D since 2010.

Beth: Dani3 I feel I have to visit them next year if I am alive and possibly can afford it. I have never spent a Christmas with my grandsons and before I know it they will be grown up.

dani3: Too far isn't it?! I was one of those daughters that moved 3000 miles away too! From the West coast to the East coast. My parents followed me back here and we were so blessed to have them here for 4 years before they both passed.

dani3: Beth I think that would be wonderful if you could do that.

Beth: Dani3 I can move and live with my son but it is not for me. I would rather live on my own. It is too expensive for me to afford a place of my own up there. At my age and not working I would not make many if any friends.

Beth: Dani3 I do not like the idea of travelling in winter. I could be stuck in a terminal for hours because of bad weather all alone. Then trying to get somebody to drop you off and pick you up at the airport in winter is a bit hard to do.

Beth: Dani3 it is colder where they live so I will probably be stuck in the house most of the time. If they lived closer I would visit them for few days.

dani3: That all makes sense. Are there any nonstop flight from your area or do they all have connections?

Beth: Dani3 no there will be at least one stop but most times 2. I am not sure which is worst being on plane so long or changing more often. I find the seats very bad for my back so if I am there very long I am crippled up. If I change more often and have far to go to next gate I am in severe pain.

dani3: That is a hard trip, for sure and I am sure it is also hare for them to travel with the little boys.

Beth: It looks like we are not getting anybody here tonight. I guess they are either with family or family at their place.

Beth: Buttons2 welcome. How was your day?

dani3: Hi Buttons, how are you doing tonight?

Beth: Dani3 it is too expensive for 4 of them to travel home plus they would not get enough time off.

Beth: Buttons2 how is the weather your way. We are getting snow and blowing here.

buttons2: hello ladies, we had brunch with our "kids", then our S went to work and D went to her BF's family as there are youngsters, H has gone to a friend's for a bit and I tried to take our fur baby for an hour walk. I did not realize how fast I've gotten at walking so what used to take me an hour was a push to get 45 minutes. H and I had roast beef for dinner; tomorrow we are having the "kids" again for a dinner

dani3: That sounds like a nice day!

buttons2: Beth it's chilly out however nothing but sun today and kind of mild this morning, calling for rain tomorrow or Tuesday, it snowed about two, almost 3, weeks ago here days.

Beth: Buttons2 too bad your son had to work. But there are jobs that somebody has to work. I have worked my fair share of Christmas Day. I almost wished I had worked this year.

buttons2: Beth you are with your sister today, what did you do today dani3?

buttons2: Beth he works at 7-11 and I think many places try to put people on that don't have family, like children or grandchildren.

Beth: Buttons2 earlier today it was warmer and mixture of rain and snow. But later today it starting snowing.

buttons2: Beth there are so few places open however some are 24hr and my understanding is they have to remain open so...

buttons2: Beth that's what it was like Friday here, mostly rain but snowy (I call it slushing). I had taken our fur baby for a drive to the nearby lake/park for a walk, we both got muddy and wet (she had her coat on so not sopping however I didn't have my hood on so my hair was dripping) and it was cold

Beth: Buttons2 yes I am with my sister. I am here now. I wanted to visit some people but it got bad out so never got anywhere. I am going back tomorrow. I almost wish I was back in my appt now. I do. It like going overnight like I used too.

buttons2: Beth and right now I would give anything to be on a holiday somewhere.

buttons2: dani3 you and your H spent a nice Christmas together?

Beth: Buttons yes there are a few stores everywhere that remain open Christmas Day. We do not have any 7 to 11 but my D worked at a gas station that was opened 24 hrs 365 days a yr.

buttons2: Beth ah, I thought they were across Canada; yes there are a number of gas stations that remain open. I know some of our Tim Horton’s are open 24 hr however not sure if they are open Christmas day and there is a grocery store that is and I'm not sure if they are, didn't walk that way with fur baby

Beth: buttons2 I don't think I would mind being on a holiday somewhere but gone for one night is not worth packing. Besides if I was home I would not have to do any snow. Here I am going to have to so I can get my car out of driveway.

buttons2: Beth I understand

Beth: Buttons both my children are living on west coast now. But D worked there when she was younger.

dani3: buttons, yes, thank you. We went to some friend’s house this afternoon and cooked and ate too much food!

buttons2: Beth I thought two of them were mid west coast, like one province over from me. I am on the very west coast

buttons2: dani3 although we didn't have a really big meal I feel full Tomorrow will be a turkey dinner, going to do some prep tonight so less work tomorrow

Beth: Buttons yes they are. To me on the east coast of Canada that is west.

buttons2: Beth there are a number of provinces on the east coast, the one I'm in is pretty much west and the rest I consider mid-country

buttons2: Ladies despite the nearly hour long walk fur baby seems restless and is trying to find things to munch and get into trouble with, silly thing

Beth: buttons2 I believe we are the furthest west of you.

Beth: Buttons who is your fur baby?

buttons2: Beth most likely. I had an aunt who lived in Nova Scotia and one of them lives in New Brunswick still

dani3: I am so glad you were both here tonight. Pretty quiet chat room! I am going to say good night and God Bless! Merry Christmas to both of you! Good night!

buttons2: Beth we got a dog at the start of November, she's a schnauzer mix

dani3: Will be chatting with you next year!!!

Beth: Buttons2 I have cousins in NB and used to have some in NS.

buttons2: dani3 Merry Christmas to you too. Night

buttons2: Beth interesting

Beth: Buttons2 I don't think I remember that you got a dog.

buttons2: Ladies I'm going to see what our "monkey" is into and do some prep

Beth: Good night. God bless!

buttons2: Beth I'm not sure I told everyone in chat although there might have been mention when I sent out a prayer request
